This was an awesome snook who put up a great fight and ripped out several yards of line. I was fishing with live white baits, 20 lb. braid, 40 lb. florocarbon leader, all on the new U.S.REELS which provided me with enough line to get the bait as far away from the boat as I could and still have enough line left for the battle. She went 32 lbs. and was released safely back into her front yard.
This young man put a white bait 40 yards behind the boat to capture this 21 lb. 8 oz. snook and it took about 18 to 20 minutes for him to land this beautiful lady. Nelson came up from Islamorada for the weekend and with a U.S.REEL providing enough line to get his first white bait deep enough and back in the rip...POW, the fight was on! We were using the 240 series U.S.REEL with 20 lb. braid and 40 lb. leader on a 7 ft. 6 in. Shoreline Crowder rod. Way to go Nelson!!!
OK all you flounder fans, here's one for the books. Just 8 yrs. old, Tyler, banged this bad boy on a mojarra using the 230 series U.S.REEL, 20 lb. braid and 20 lb. mono leader on a knocker rig. To say the least, Dad was a little jealous. Way to go kiddo. Oh yea, it went 9 lbs. 4 oz.
Gator trout, oh yea...here he is! Daron and his buddy caught some nice fish this day, this fish though, was his biggest catch yet. We were using the 240 series U.S.REELS to get the bait to the fish, I just kept telling him, "let her hunt the bait". We could see these fish crushing baits off in the distance and thanks to U.S.REELS for having the line capacity so we were able to drop enough back and reach the feeding frenzy that was ensuing. We were using 20 lb. braid to 30 lb. mono leader and a #3 Kahl hook rigged to a 6 inch pilchard which was on a 7 ft. 3 in. St. Croix medium heavy rod with the 240 series U.S.REEL. The big female was released, she went 9 lbs. 4 oz.
